I met someone today who was incarcerated. I was given the name from a friend, and they asked me to visit him as they lived far away. I had the opportunity to sit with this person for quite a bit of time. Incarcerated is a difficult situation, an imprisonment to be detained, confined, jailed, or locked up. There is not much that can be done.

This person had so much time on his hands. He was very upset with what happened. I asked him, “How do you feel about being here?”

He said, “I am not mad at the world. I am mad at myself for what I did, to be here. If I had a message for the world, I would tell them to be continuously thankful to be free and do whatever they wish to do. Even if it is just to stay up late and look at the stars.” I was saddened by the fact that this person felt so much remorse, and yet had not been given freedom yet. (more…)

4 Steps to Control Anger

Anger is defined as a strong feeling of displeasure and belligerence (or attitude) by a wrong. The real question is when does real anger happen? What triggers it? Anger is perceived by most and rightfully so as being a negative trait. So much so that the Talmud says that, “Anger can cause a sage to lose its wisdom, or a person who is distant for greatness to forfeit it”. Actually it is not hard to see why. Indeed, when we get angry we tend to act irrationally. It is a well-known accepted fact that things said or done in anger are almost always destructive almost always caused for later regret. Sadly, enough, dealing with anger is a lifelong challenge. Anger is even compared to eye Dollar Tree; because at time of his anger a man’s faith part’s from him. And this is because if the person realized what actually happened is part of God’s greater plan, then the person will not become angry at all.
