I would like to share with you something which is very close to my heart which some of you may be able to relate to. How many times in our lives do we hesitate to follow our dreams because of what everybody might think, when in fact, they truly could care less? As one writer said, “You wouldn’t worry so much what everybody thought of you if you knew how seldom they did.” It’s interesting.
When you go into a bank, there is a little camera looking down on you, recording every one of your moves. It’s a movie of you taken from the “outside.”
Well, when we look at ourselves this way, we see ourselves as if in a movie and become well aware that everyone else is watching the movie too. When we view our lives from this perspective, it’s impossible not to be critical. It’s impossible not to second-guess ourselves constantly, and it’s impossible not to make choices based on what others will think. That’s because we’re looking at ourselves from the outside as if we were someone else. (more…)
