I met a young man, some time ago, who had been using drugs.
I asked him the question, “What leads you to that? What did you do to fall so low that you let the drugs control your life, your mind, and everything else around you?”
This is what he said to me, “I was looking for a high… I was looking for something above and beyond. I fooled myself into thinking that I could accomplish more, and that I was so much better than everybody else. I never listened,” the young man said, “to anyone. Not to advice from my parents, my friends. And I never cared to even take the time. I kept on telling myself that I was so much greater, and so much smarter. Nothing could change me or stop me. When the drugs came along, I didn’t look at it as an ‘overtaking power’ or as a ‘new achievement’, but rather as simply one of my servants that I could order around.” (more…)
