3 Steps to Make Decisions

As humans we have been given the awesome and monumental gift of freewill. What that means is that at any given moment we have the power to make any decision which will impact not only our life but also the fate of the world.

It has been said that every moment as a human being, you must see yourself as though the entire world is held in balance. Any “one deed you do could tip the scale for you and the entire world for the good“!

Hence, we are continuously faced with an opportunity to do something that could benefit the world, or have an opposite negative affect. Simply put, everything in the world is either pulling or pushing in some direction. Every person has to say, “The whole world was created with me in mind.” So it is my responsibility if my actions impact the world positively.

Here is a quick list of 3 necessary steps to take before making important decision:

  1.  Pause before you act: Consider the possible outcome of your actions before embarking into a new endeavor that you might regret later. You must remember that life accumulates debt or value. This means that you will either be happy or sorry from your actions. So discipline yourself to act properly and accept full responsibility for your actions. Also, knowing that life accumulates regret or equity should make it easier to make the right decisions. Always remember that regrets weigh tons while discipline weighs ounces.
  2.  How will my decision affect the world around me? It behooves you to realize that in life there can never be a simple ultimate answer because there will never be a single ultimate question. If you are serious about your life’s mission in the world, you must be considerate of all the people who may be affected by your behavior and decisions you make. Ask yourself the question. Will your actions impact people around you positively or negatively?
  3.  How much good will actually be generated from your decision? Recognize that in life it is not about how many things you accumulate that makes you valuable. It is what you become! So ask: “how will your actions impact the world at large?” In other words, will your deeds enhance the world or negatively impact them.

As human beings we owe it to the world and our next generations, to always find the best way to improve the universe.

Indeed, our legacy will be judged on whether we have affected our environment positively or negatively.
