Daily Wisdom  – Motivational Podcast – Day 293 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond

I spoke to someone yesterday who felt frustrated because he was disorganized. This person told me how upset he was, he couldn’t remember where he put things when he came home, or the last details of the things he had to do, the tasks, errands, or even an important concept he had to implement in their life.

It’s simple, disorganization is not to be shunned or to be ignored – it is to be mastered. In order for you to understand disorganization you first have to accept that you are disorganized. Just admit it and say, “Okay, I am a disorganized person. Now where should I start?” I’ll give you some insights as to where you can start in a simplistic way.

First and foremost, note that every time you come home, whether it’s the keys to your car or the item that you carry your valuables with, make sure that you put it in one specific place. Keep this as a habit. Make that a determining factor of a discipline that you’re joining today. Next, do everything in an orderly fashion.

For instance, as you undress to either take a shower or go to sleep, make sure that your clothes are put away in a specific pattern and in the specific place which they are designated to be. This will give you the beginning steps of organization.

Next, as you make your work start off by making numbers of the things that need to get done. Look at that list every few hours and find out if have you kept up with your duties. Keep a list with all the things that you have set out to be at the beginning of the day. Review that list at least once throughout the day, if not more. If that list seems to be completed, then you are on your way to being organized. If you see it’s not, then change it. Realize that perhaps the list is too long or not explicit, or the list itself is not categorized and therefore impossible to finish.

In the day, there are only so many things that you can do. Pat yourself on the back when you get them done, and don’t punish yourself if you don’t finish them. Just make sure that you do them within a reasonable time.

That is the definition of success: Accomplishing most of what you need to do. Progress within a reasonable amount of time and this will get you organized – at least the start of it.
