Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 45 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
I came into work this morning and there was a man standing outside the elevator. As I approached the elevator, he smiled at me and said, “How is your day today? Are you having a great day?”
And I said, “Yes.”
As we got into the elevator, this wonderful man smiled at me. All excited, he said, “Isn’t it great to be alive? Isn’t it nice just to be here and have things to do?”
I was so impressed by that. He kept a smile on his face the whole time, and not only that he kept a good attitude. It was even more so is that he seemed that he was going somewhere. He had a uniform on with the name of a company that he was working for and it was obvious that he had a duty or task to perform.
He didn’t mind work and certainly didn’t have an issue with the day. He didn’t seem like a salesman or someone that was asking for anything; just a person who was pleased just being alive, having a job, and being thankful.
Often, you meet people like this and sometimes they’re reminders. Reminders of how precious it is to be here on Earth. Thank G-d we live in the United States of America, a country of kindness and abundance beyond anything else in the world.
Yet at times, we don’t recognize the goodness or the greatness that we have. It is a person just like this man this morning that reminded me of that. A smile on his face made me feel so comfortable. At the same time, I felt a slight jealousy in me.
Why didn’t I smile to him this way? Why didn’t I greet him first? Why didn’t I have this attitude?
I decided, that starting today, I will also be just like that. When I approach that elevator, I will remember his smile, kindness, positive attitude, and beautiful way of making other people feel good. This is the way that we should be every day.
I am grateful for having met this man this morning. I’m grateful for the opportunity to remind me that we have so much to be thankful for. Everything that we have is a blessing, although we forget this at times. There are reminders, and this angel this morning was there to make me think about it, and I appreciate it!
