Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 387 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
The pursuit of happiness is a subject that many people discussed over the last several thousand years. Now, I learned recently that according to the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, it is an unalienable right. In fact, it says by one of the authors, the desire to be happy is at the root of all human endeavors. It doesn’t come in the form of an ideal job or a perfect mate, or winning a lottery ticket, not at all. It is that once you get rid of expectations that are not real, but rather focus on what you’ve got, the authentic happiness can be yours.
It’s interesting, isn’t it?
The fact that it is, according to the Declaration of Independence a “right”. So everyone has that right, as a citizen of the United States of America, and it is written in the Declaration of Independence to be happy.
Why would the forefathers, of this beautiful country make that a “right”?
Very simple. People have been prosecuted all over the world for many years, for various reasons. Now, it could be because of differences, bigotry, ethnicity, war, power, or all kinds of reasons.
Many of these things are simply silly. Ask any child why there would be a war and they just would say, “I don’t understand it. Why don’t these people just share or at least talk it out?”
Children see life as an opportunity for them to be able to share everything that they have. Now, they may have issues about their toys, but once they’re spoken to quietly and peacefully, they understand it. Adults can’t. Too many things are in their way.
So I ask you this question. If this is an undeniable and unalienable right, why is it that so many people are not happy?
Expectations of happiness often are geared towards things that are not within a realm of possibility. A person says, “I’ll be happy only if.”
Why not something that you have right now?
If you’re healthy and you’ve had a meal today, that should be a cause for total happiness. Everything else maybe superfluous.
Think about it.
