On Your Birthday

Today is a very special day for me indeed. It is my birthday.

Now, it is good to be thankful for what you have in life and what you’ve accomplished and if you open your eyes to a broader, larger picture, you will appreciate the fruits of life, but you first have to appreciate the tree that bears the fruit, and this is birth itself.

You see, birth is your beginning. It’s a window to the chance of a lifetime, the chance to fulfill your unique mission on Earth. So a birthday is truly momentous if you think about it. It has to be commemorated just as a nation commemorates its birth or even an organization celebrates its founding. Now, because time itself is spiral, something special happens on your birthday each year and here’s what it is: the same energy that the Creator of the world invested in you at birth, is once again present on that day, which is today for me.

So it’s our duty to be receptive to that force, and how do we do so? By committing to a life guided by all good things, the abilities and the resource that were given to us from our birth. So a birthday is a time to celebrate birth itself, the joy of life. It’s also an occasion to rethink your life, and think about how great is the disparity between what you have accomplished and what you can accomplish, to be all that you were designed to be or to be less than you were designed to be. And no matter how things went yesterday or last year, you’ll always have the capacity to try again.

So your birthday is a refresher, it’s a chance for regeneration, not just materially, but spiritually as well. So now, there is no better way to celebrate your birthday than committing to an act of kindness, of goodness, and making sure that the whole world benefits. Such kindness brings unity and gladness, and growth throughout the world.

So I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a great year. I want to bless you that everything that you do should be with goodness and kindness based on integrity from the inner part of your heart which is always good. You should always realize that your mission is unique and no one can do what you do, no one can replace you, and you are full with remarkable concepts, ideas and abilities. You can do whatever you wish in your life to make this place a better place than it was when you first found it, so why not make this world better? Why not engage in this world to try the best that you can to enhance the world and enhance your life, and the life of everybody else? Now, it’s easy to say thank you and to say that you’re thankful, but it’s far better and much better to show all of this if you do it with a kind deed, something that you didn’t do yesterday; not because someone is forcing you, not even because someone suggested it, but simply because your inner goodness, your soul, wants to express it and show that you’re alive.

There’s one more thing also to mention about a birthday and that is that it should be that you should have a cake and share it with friends and family. And that’s what I’m going to do on my birthday as well. This is a time of reflection and I hope that just like my birthday means so much to me, I hope that your birthday means everything to you as well, to use all your abilities to be all that you can be, and may G-d bless you with all good news in everything you do.
