Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 961 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
I read recently that a Harvard University study, found that exposure to blue light which is the light produced by the cell phone, can suppress melatonin and also, it can even shift your circadian rhythm.
Now, the circadian rhythm is roughly a 24-hour cycle in the physiological processes of living beings, including the plants, animals, and even the cyanobacteria. In order to sleep peacefully at night, a person should make sure that they turn off their cell phone or put it in a night shift mode, basically.
What do you do when you want to go to sleep at night? How do you wind down from your day? Well, studies have shown that the best time to go to sleep is between 8 P.M. and midnight. Those are the good hours. By the end of the day, you should have a routine. A routine that helps you calm down and wind down. The brain cells and the iPhones also have low energy and they are slower and they feel overused. If this is how your day ends, then you should develop a new process by which your night routine helps you wind down and get ready to go to sleep.
Here’s some recommendation. First, you can get cozy, make yourself comfortable, you can wear a uniform – pajamas or whatever you’re comfortable with, something that helps you feel more at ease.
There is a rule, interestingly enough, that I have in my own life. I have a rule that I never take anything stressful into my bedroom, and I refuse to read anything of that kind of stress-bringing into my life, certainly not at night. Another one is meditation, prayers. It is a form of not only relaxation but it deepens your soul and it helps you find a way into an avenue that didn’t exist during the day.
Some people also make sure that before they go to sleep, if they have a partner that they live with, to always be sure to wish them a good night and end on a good note. My father, bless his soul, used to say to me, never go to bed angry at anyone. If need be, ask for forgiveness and make-up.
By the time you’re ready to go to sleep, by the time you’re ready to go to bed, your winding down has made sense and is now more comfortable for you. You found a zone in your life where you can actually now release all that energy and be ready to wake up the next morning for a great day, a strong day, and certainly a successful day, and I wish the best for you every single day.
