An interesting thing that they say down there; one is “yes, ma’am” or “yes, sir.” Many people refer to each other as yes, ma’am, yes, sir. This is how they speak. It’s interesting. There are also some countries that won’t call you by your first or last name. They’ll call you Mister and Miss. Titles that are given to people. I find it fascinating that you can be in a place and when you ask them a question, irrespective of the person you’re speaking with, they will say to you, “yes, sir,” “yes, ma’am.” This is such a wonderful way to communicate with one another. I find it so elegant and extremely polite. It is not something which they have to force themselves onto. They even have people who speak that way to their own parents. The father, for instance, will ask something of the daughter and she’ll say, “Yes, sir,” or the mother will ask something of the child and the child will respond, “Yes, ma’am.” read more…

There are three approaches in life. If you’ve heard about that. There’s a saying “As we begin, so it goes” meaning that the way things are going and the way that you start. Great project, for instance, often begin with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and excitement, and energy, and some people are the ones that start setting down new foundations because they found something which was great and it’s reflected in their actions. They like to start things, they like to innovate, and this is what they do. That’s all they do, and then they walk away. read more…

A person can look at themselves in such a negative way. They are just not too sure about what their abilities are, and they often forget exactly what they have in store for them. This makes it very difficult to achieve anything in the world. The truth of the matter is, that with your mind seek the truth and to critically examine yourself with every move that you make. Make sure that it conforms with truth and integrity of character. It is quite amazing, astonishing, awesome, even revealing. I was given one recently by my children and I can tell you that the feeling is one of a particular beauty. When you see that people who love you gather around and have prepared for you a beautiful surprise. It was a surprise party, a celebration of success and goodness. It will be a time when you look around with amazement and goodness you and see the true fruits of many years of labor. It no longer becomes something of intuition – it’s an acceptance, a discipline, dynamic, and authentic.
That’s what it was. Sitting there, I looked around at my children, each one of them made full efforts to make this a special night. read more…

I met someone today who was incarcerated. I was given the name from a friend, and they asked me to visit him as they lived far away. I had the opportunity to sit with this person for quite a bit of time. Incarcerated is a difficult situation, an imprisonment to be detained, confined, jailed, or locked up. There is not much that can be done.
This person had so much time on his hands. He was very upset with what happened. I asked him, “How do you feel about being here?”
He said, “I am not mad at the world. I am mad at myself for what I did, to be here. If I had a message for the world, I would tell them to be continuously thankful to be free and do whatever they wish to do. Even if it is just to stay up late and look at the stars.” I was saddened by the fact that this person felt so much remorse, and yet had not been given freedom yet. read more…

There are subjects which are difficult to discuss for obvious reasons, and one of them is death. What happens when a person passes away? A loved one. Someone with whom we were close. Someone we admired or someone that we looked up to… What happens to them?
A story or a suggestion of something that you might want to think about. Assume, for whatever reason, a person whom you love has been called away into a distant provincial town. Their job there was going to be to serve to a higher capacity, and to occupy a position of honor. This would be in the most luxurious palace or royal academy.
If a person was called to do such a job, their friends and family members around them would be proud to hear of such an event. They would be looking at this venture as a great opportunity.
Now, take this example in our own world. This is what happens when someone passes away. They actually are called to a higher duty, a greater and better place. An amazing opportunity for them to do even more than they did when they were here with us. Suddenly now, following death is a great venture that happens to all the departed ones. read more…

At times during circumstances we can be quick to judge. We look at people or their actions, and immediately, unobjectively say things and judge these people in ways that is very narrow minded.
You need to be extremely humble in relation to every person. That is to consider yourself less worthy than anyone else. This is an important concept in order to lead a good life.
Objectively speaking you might say, “How can you consider yourself less meritorious than those who at least appear to be less worthy of your own respect?” You have to bear in mind a very important concept, not to judge anyone until you actually have reached their place. You see, we all have challenges. The fact that sometimes we don’t succumb to these challenges or particular temptation where another person might doesn’t make us superior to them at all.
Who can measure the effect of someone else’s upbringing, environment, inborn character and weaknesses against temptations that one faces? We don’t know this. read more…

People sometimes believe that they have a tremendous amount of pressure in their lives, and they don’t know how to react to it. There is nothing more conducive to attune the mind and the heart towards consciousness that there is a Divine Presence above and beyond us. This is the reason why people should pray daily. By praying, a person should know that there is a Being, above and beyond all our consciousness, that is watching over us.
You may say, “I don’t quite see G-d when I pray.” That may be true, but to attain peace, specifically peace of mind, and general contentment, a person should pray to a higher Being. There is a Creator in this world, and through prayer and direct personal contact with this absolutely unbelievable infinite Being, G-d Himself.
One is reminded every day that G-d is actually not that far away. Not in the seventh heaven or somewhere that we can’t even see or understand. The extra Being that we’re speaking about here, is yourself along with the Creator. He is present right here, right next to you, and His benevolent providence extends to each and every one individual. read more…
