Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 975 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
It is told about a gentleman whose name is Dick Fosbury, he was a high jumper, but instead of facing the pole in jumping with the feet first, somehow, he got the idea that he needed to throw his body over his head first with his face looking at the sky, and he said that, “I was told over and over again that I would never be successful and that this technique would never work.”
He was quoted in saying that and in fact, he was so criticized that the position got his name, “The Fosbury Flop”, but interestingly enough, despite the ridicule, Fosbury trusted that he was on to something that was unique and he kept at it. Then soon enough, at the Olympics in Mexico in 1968, the laughter stopped and Fosbury not only won the gold medal with his flop but he set a new world record, and today, believe it or not, all high jumpers use this technique and this is how a new concept was born. read more…

Conquer the World

Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 974 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
It is said that when Adam was created, according to the Bible, the Creator immediately apprised him of his powers and it gave him the purpose in life, and that was to replenish the Earth and conquer it. And he would have dominion over the fish of the sea and the fowl of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the Earth. Then he was given the power to conquer the whole world and to rule over it on land, on sea, in the air, and he was commended to do this as a task, but how does that work?
The word ‘conquest’ which was given to man as his task and mission in life is to elevate the whole nature, including the beasts and the animals, but needless to say, before a man can set out to conquer the whole world, he must first conquer within himself, his “earthly being”, his personality, and his inclination which is not as good or as Divine, his own nature. read more…

Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 973 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
There’s a story of a wise man who had children. Now, two of his sons were of different age, but the older son was short in stature and the younger son was taller. So, one was older and shorter, and the second one was younger but taller.
One day, the father saw them playing outside in the yard and the older brother dug a hole, a ditch, in the garden and put his brother there and this way, he could, by standing up, be taller than his younger brother. When the father saw this, he called out to the boy, the older brother, and he asked him, “Why did you dig the hole and put your brother in it?” He answered, “Well, my brother is younger than I, and yet he’s taller, so by me putting him in the hole, it gives me the opportunity to restore the equilibrium, and this way, since I am older, I am actually now taller.” His father looked at him and thought about this and said to his son in a kind way, that this was good but it was not the proper way to do it. The best way to do this next time, his father said, “If you ever find yourself in a situation, instead of putting your brother in a ditch, you should climb on a mountain.” read more…

Blind to Our Thoughts

Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 971 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
There’s an interesting concept about who we are and how we find out about the type of person we are, what our character is, and really who our core essence is all about.
Now, it has been taught that people we encounter in our lives are our own mirrors. Isn’t that interesting? So, it means that if we see evil in them, in these people we encounter, we are really seeing a reflection of the evil or the negative within us. And, since we are generally blind to our own faults, the Creator of the world arranges it so that we notice them in someone else; and therefore, we’re expected at this point to take the cue and recognize that we possess the same faults so that we can correct them in ourselves. read more…
