Daily Wisdom  – Motivational Podcast – Day 95 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond

Have you ever heard of the term daydreaming? The dictionary describes it as, “indulging in a reverie.” Something where a person loses himself out in the atmosphere. What you are is not there, you’re really not sure what’s going on but you’re in a different world.

You could be sitting in the classroom listening to a teacher, or on a bus, along a ride, listening to someone speaking next to you. You could also be in front of another person having a normal conversation, and somehow, somewhere, your mind drifts away. It just completely leaves you. You go into this imaginary dream, into something which is out of you, an experience which is not even understandable.

What’s happening is that you’re in that moment. You’re imagining all the people that are there, you’re daydreaming about all the concepts, all the vivid colors and music. They look real.

As a matter of fact, they are there because you created them. At any moment, when you come back to yourself, the daydreaming goes away, and it all disappears.

Now, what’s interesting about daydreaming is that at the time, you have the ability to create whatever dream or reverie that you wish. The dangerous part is that some people daydream when they’re supposed to be focused. Daydreaming is good because it gives you the ability to leave your environment that perhaps at times doesn’t feel too comfortable, and let you be in another place, in a different manner, of your choice. The negative, or the obstacle, or the privilege that you may have at times, is not always there to help you because if you don’t pay attention, daydreaming could become addictive and could become dangerous. If, G-d forbid, you were to daydream when you are  driving, it could be fatal.

Daydreaming is important, but it has to be limited. The beauty, however, is that this is all your imagination, and anytime you wish to stop it, all you have to do is say so.
