I would like to share with you something which is very close to my heart which some of you may be able to relate to. How many times in our lives do we hesitate to follow our dreams because of what everybody might think, when in fact, they truly could care less? As one writer said, “You wouldn’t worry so much what everybody thought of you if you knew how seldom they did.” It’s interesting.
When you go into a bank, there is a little camera looking down on you, recording every one of your moves. It’s a movie of you taken from the “outside.”
Well, when we look at ourselves this way, we see ourselves as if in a movie and become well aware that everyone else is watching the movie too. When we view our lives from this perspective, it’s impossible not to be critical. It’s impossible not to second-guess ourselves constantly, and it’s impossible not to make choices based on what others will think. That’s because we’re looking at ourselves from the outside as if we were someone else.
Let me suggest to you a possible solution. The option to this is to get behind our own eyes, to look out at the world and experience our choices from inside ourselves. From the inside perspective, we get in touch with what matters truly to us and to our families. Behind our eyes, we live our lives based on what we care about, cultivating our best potential, living out our dreams, and fulfilling our purpose in being alive.
You see, just recently, I spoke to one of my daughters who surprised me in such a beautiful way. She described to me and how she had to take care of her family and be more mature and more concerned about what those needs were. Hesitation to follow dreams used to be her pathways until she realized she needed to take care of her family; and sometimes, it becomes a problem if we don’t truly look at our heart’s desires.
Next time you find yourself in this way, listen to the wisdom of what I just wrote. I am proud of it because my own daughter was able to communicate this information in such a beautiful, unadulterated way. As one person once said, “I don’t know the key to success but the key to failure is to try to please everyone,” and I can generally say that my daughter today truly taught me a lesson in letting me know that the key to happiness is to follow your dreams and never hesitate. It’s to take care of your family with unadulterated joy and put efforts, energy, time, care, kindness, and all the focus you can to make life a better place to be.
I’m proud to have such a daughter and I think she knows it too because she really cares and I wish her and everyone the best.
