Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 496 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
I met someone the other day who was worried all week, and this person told me that it felt as though it had rained every single day even though the weather was quite nice. This person worried for days about something that she could not control, and actually, it ended up just fine anyway.
What a waste of time and energy that we find sometimes worrying about things that we shouldn’t be worried about.
Worry, interestingly enough, typically is about the future even if it is a moment from now, a minute from now. And what we are really worried about is our ability and capacity to deal with what’s going to happen, that’s what worry is all about.
There’s something about worrying in us which is either positive or negative. There are things that we can do something about and the things that we cannot do anything about. Worrying gets us absolutely nowhere for most of us. Interestingly enough, the worry, after whatever the obstacle, challenge, or the occasion is passes, we find that we worried for nothing. It ended up just fine. We have the opportunity to prove ourselves, to handle any particular situation but often, we don’t trust ourselves; we are not sure, and so think about this: if you are currently worried about something, if you are currently in a situation and you’re worrying about that, ask yourself the question, the things that have happened to you in the past, were they worth worried about? Did the worry add anything to your life? Did the worry accomplish anything that was positive? Did it help?
You don’t have to expend your emotional energy on things that you have no control over, and even if you think you may have control over, why not be free? Live in the moment and concern yourself with what you have today and on the things that you’re doing today. You don’t have to worry about life, the future, and certainly not about the past. What has happened has already happened. Become more flexible in your understanding of where you are. There is always a variety of possible responses, always a situation that can be changed, things that can be accommodated. If you can, think about options that you have but if you see that you can’t, one thing to remember is realize that all the past things in your life have ended up just fine and so will the situation as well. You will be taken care of and it will work out. You will get to enjoy your time and life as it is today, and you will feel so much better about what you’ve got to do.
That’s my recommendation to do for you, for me, for all of us. Never experience this type of worry. You don’t need it. You can do without it, and you can live happily from now on, and I wish this for you.
