Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 857 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
There is something which is in my own ways, a disease and this is my interpretation of it. I think many other people agree with me and that is to “envy others”.
To be envious of others of what they have or the things that you should have, brings about such animosity in you, looking at them and saying, “How come they have that? Why don’t I have it? I’m envious of what they have.”
If you look at your friends and they have more than you do, there’s another question you need to ask: “Are they happy with what they have?”
And this is the question that you will have to ask yourself: in pursuit of what you want to get, will you be happy at the end when you do get it? That’s a question to ask. Think about it.
There is a way that wise and experienced people have told us to react, and that is you should be envious of those who know more than you, those who have knowledge, understanding, wisdom. For that, you should be envious. But you should pity, and you should accept the fact that there are many people who are less fortunate than you in material world; meaning that if you see someone who does not have a lot, have pity for them, give them a blessing, think of them positively and know that you have plenty, at least more than they do.
So if you ever feel like someone else has more than you, ask yourself, is it materialistic or is it because of the wisdom that they show and the wisdom that they have? If it’s because of their wisdom, then you should envy them. That way, you work yourself up and work hard at the fact that you need to grow spiritually, mentally, psychologically, you should gain greater wisdom by learning more and doing whatever you can to become a better person.
But if you see someone who has less than you, realize how fortunate you are in having so much more. This way you’ll always be content.
Don’t be envious of others because of what they have. First, you don’t know if they are happy. Second, you don’t know what they did to deserve that. So why not accept it? Be happy for them; be joyous for the fact that they have and look at them not with discontent but with true genuine, unadulterated happiness, and let them be with those blessings. You, then will be blessed.
