Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 181 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
There is a story about a philosopher named Ludwig Wittgenstein. He discovered that when you put a fly in a bottle, it dives right to the bottom and then it flies back up to about the middle of it and then it starts flying to the left and hits the wall, and then it flies to the right and hits the wall again, and then it goes back and flies to the left and hits the wall, and flies to the right and hits the wall. The fly keeps flying back and forth from the left to the right, until it just drops from exhaustion. It’s just simply exhausted and it falls, and it dies.
One thing the fly never does, he says, is look up. If that fly ever looked up, it would have seen that there was an opportunity to get out, just fly away and be free. Often, we find ourselves in situations where we don’t look up, we see only saturation, frustration.
There is a way to turn that frustration into a fascination and liberate ourselves and that is taking a chance to looking up. Look up to the Heavens. There is a Creator that created this whole beautiful world and from there, you can be free.
By having a partner in this world, namely believing in G-d or whatever you want It to be called, whatever suits your needs, but by having a partner, you’re now attached to divinity, infinity.
You may say, “Why should I believe in G-d? I don’t see Him. He’s not there.”
The truth is, although you may not see Him, this being which many people call G-d created this whole amazing, incredible, absolutely unparalleled world that we live in. So why not enjoy the ride? Having faith and knowing that a Creator that cares about you makes life so much simpler, and it’s not about not believing or anything like this.
No, no, it’s about you. The ability to understand who you are and what you are here for, what your mission is, that’s what life is. You should take this opportunity. Look up, look up to the heavens and you will see there is an exit. There’s no need to think negatively or think that the whole world is made up of obstacles and walls that you keep on hitting back and forth. If you look up and you take that chance just one time, you will see there’s a beautiful world out there.
