Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 437 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
What would you do if you woke up in the morning and found out that something terrible or difficult, or challenging has happened? Death, for instance or perhaps losing a job, or having all kinds of issues that have come up that you did not expect.
You thought it might even go away but things happened, but yet the whole world around you says, “This is good, everything is alright.”
The truth is, in your life, it’s not.
We have part of our brain that experiences fear and sorrow, and sometimes even worry, anger, all kinds of feelings. These helps us at times protect us from causing dangerous things to ourselves but still, however, sometimes, a person is “stuck”. They’re stuck in an anger or in a chronic worry, or even in a fear and they just don’t know how to get out. Things are difficult, challenging. They’re not sure. They can’t appreciate the rest of life. They can’t seem to move up or on to the next level. They just don’t know what to do. They’re feeling totally powerless and they realize that this powerless feeling is not going to end, and they just don’t see any options. They don’t know where to go and they think they are unhappy. Unhappiness could be the cause of this issue.
Now, happiness is not a constant process. Contentment should be, but not happiness.
We can’t be happy all the time.
For instance, if you are presented with an amazing opportunity and it happens, that will give you a sense of happiness. Contentment, however, is the feeling that you’re always pleased with what you’ve got in pursuit of other things that you want. It’s the courage that we have and the willingness to accept the grief. The obstacle that we are working on right now that we are trying to overcome is temporary. That’s all it is. Once you realize that, and you realize that happiness is not constant, contentment becomes a good friend. It becomes joyful. It becomes signs of serenity and peaceful. It becomes tranquility in your heart. It gives you a sense of wholesomeness and gives you a sense of understanding that happiness cannot be constant which is a good thing because when it does come, you would like it to be bigger than just contentment. But if it was there all the time, you wouldn’t appreciate it anymore. It would just be part of the world and that’s just not the way things are.
So accept your life, be content, and be at times, happy.
