Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 790 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
Sometimes you will speak to people who say, or perhaps even you say, “I keep falling. I keep making the same mistake that I made over and over again. Even though I try to be better. I try to overcome these challenges yet I keep falling. I keep falling in the same mistakes and sometimes even more so than I did before. I keep falling. No matter what I do, no matter how hard I try, no matter what happens, there’s another obstacle, and I keep falling, so what’s the point?
What should I do? Why do I keep falling?”
Here is the answer to that question. It’s not “you keep falling,” look at it as “you fell,”. It’s just an incident, that’s it. You may say, “Yes, but this incident keeps on coming back.” Break it down into multiple incidents and take one at a time and rationalize on how you can and should make that one incident better.
When a child, for instance, tries to walk for the first time in his life, he gets up and he falls, and he gets up again and he falls. Then he gets up again and then he falls. How many times will he try? As many times as it takes. He will not stop. What if he falls and hurts himself and cries? He will try again. What if he thinks for that moment that there’s no way that he can get up? He will find another way to make it happen and he’ll get up again. This is how a child learns how to walk. He will try over and over again. Are these failures? No; this is how you learn, this is how you grow.
If there are things in your life that you regret, things that you’ve done which are improper, or for whatever reason, should not have been done and you recognize it, then that’s the beginning of goodness, that’s the beginning of success, that’s how it starts. What you have to do is look at these incidents individually and make the clear determination and promise to yourself that you’ll stop. Don’t think of what will happen tomorrow and certainly, don’t say, “What’s the use? What’s the point? I’m going to fall again.” Don’t say that. Know and believe that this is the last time you fell and you won’t fall again. That’s a guarantee.
