Daily Wisdom  – Motivational Podcast – Day 313 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond

I’m sure you’ve heard the term, “I told you so.” It’s been told to us throughout the years we were growing up, by our parents or perhaps by a friend who cared enough to tell us what they thought. It may have been told to us by someone such as a grandparent, an uncle, or even a sibling. Sometimes it’s told to us by a colleague, or someone we meet who becomes a mentor to us.

“I told you so” – the four most important words that can make a difference in your life. Yet we take these words for granted and hardly ever listen to them.

I remember when my parents, specifically my father, would say to me that his father had told him so many things that he had to do and things that he should be aware of. “Two words to remember”, he would say, “One is behold and the other one is beware.”

Behold of the greatness that there is in the world and the things that you could do. Beware of the things you need to make sure you do not break and/or ever go against. Beware of the greatness of the things that you can do. He would tell me that the Bible itself would have examples, things to follow, things to understand, things to emulate, and warnings.

Things to stay away from. “I told you so” means, “I’m giving you my experience; I’m sharing with you what I know, what I’ve heard, what I have seen, what I understand, and perhaps even, what I have gone through myself.”

When I tell you these words and I repeat them to you, it’s because I understand them very well today. Perhaps more today than I did in the past.

“I told you so” means, “I knew this would happen.” Not because I’m a prophet or because I know things more than you do, but I’ve just been there before “you” could get there. Taking a stroll with one of my children this week, I said those very words. “I told you so.” Not because of something that happened, but as a reminder that it is better to be forewarned today and to remember the things we were taught from our parents, grandparents, friends, colleagues, siblings, and mentors. Remember that what they said was probably true and we should heed all of their advice for good things.
