Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 510 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
I was waiting to board a plane, and for whatever reason, they announced that the plane was delayed. One person walked straight up to the counter and said they couldn’t be delayed. They had to be there, and they were furious, they screamed: “This is not fair.”
What could we do? What can happen in such a situation?
Life’s expectations sometimes can’t be met. Ask anyone, for instance, who is seriously ill, G-d forbid, or injured through no fault of their own, or for instance, those who have lost their home because of an earthquake and did not have insurance coverage, or even a tornado, or perhaps what is referred to as an act of G-d. What happens?
What happens to all these circumstances and all these people? Very few of us can actually get through the entire lifetime of our living on Earth, without having some type of event that will change our ways and knock us over the head. Yet that’s just reality. But the world is not out there to try to get us and things are not there so that we will fail, and for us to feel miserable about what we have. We just happened to be at that path at that very moment. It’s not like an oncoming car hitting us, and if it is, it is supposed to.
What we can do, however, is treat ourselves in a kind way, take stock of the damage and figure out how we can move forward. What could we do with these circumstances? What do we expect? Is life fair? Of course, it is. Are things the way they are supposed to be? Yes, they are. It may not be the way that you wish it to be.
Now, because of what you see, what you know, what you think, and what we understand with our limited mind as human beings, but eventually, life is fair and we may not see it for many years to come. It is full of opportunities for growth and sometimes adaptability, resilience, self-reliance, all of these will be needed to help us overcome the obstacles, the challenges, and see the opportunities in these dire circumstances. That’s just the way the world is. We can’t fight it. What you can do, however, is focus on the positive of your life, get up, and move forward. If things are happening in your life and they are creating chaos and it feels like a tsunami that’s just come over you, hang on tight. It will pass. Life’s expectations is about the overcoming of the obstacle, not the understanding of it, and if you understand it, that’s just a gift. If not, at least you will overcome it and you will be where you need to be. It will feel good, it was a learning opportunity, and it’s a way for you to grow your patience, your empathy, perhaps even your compassion towards others, and life moves on. It then relaxes. Just like the seasons, they come and go, and you will find yourself at the right place at the right time, and I promise you this: there will be many other good times in your life and hopefully, you will forget about the other ones that weren’t as good.
