Daily Wisdom  – Motivational Podcast – Day 370 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond

I met someone recently who sat down with me and told me how overwhelming their life was. They felt that they weren’t in consonant with their mission, with what they had to do.

It’s interesting. Each and every one of us has a mission. That mission is distinct for all people. The way to look at it, is that we should be happily married to that mission. And sometimes we feel, or some of us feel, that we’ve been mismatched and in such a case. We decide we want to abandon this. Just like in a marriage, “I’m not really happy and this is not what I want,” therefore, the people decide that they want to get separated, divorced.

Now, often, however, in the case, it is not the problem with the mission but with ourselves. Perhaps, I may suggest, it’s the fact that we are not willing to summon or bring out the effort that are required to continue over a certain mission. It’s either our inflated ego which is deceiving us into thinking that we deserve better or greater, or something easier, or even more, a glorious life.

But just like with marriage, maintaining marital harmony with our soul’s mission or with our mission in life, may require sometimes to do things which are above and beyond what we like. This is the case of men and women who get together and want to be married. Happy marriage is not about what you get from the marriage, it’s what you give into the marriage, just like the day. It’s not trying to get through the day, it’s what you get from the day. That makes a difference.

So it is with our mission. If you want to know what your mission is, find the things that are most difficult to you, things that are difficult to overcome, and there they are; that’s your mission. Now, there is more to your mission than just overcoming obstacles. There is also bringing the best part of what you have and who you are to the rest of the world. Your mission is not just to make yourself better. Your mission is also to improve the world and the environment around you, everyone that you know: family, siblings, colleagues, friends, neighbors, whoever they may be.

Wherever you are, be the person that you need to be and change the way you act if you think things are too difficult. Don’t ever think that your mission and yourself have been mismatched. That’s impossible, and that’s a fact.
