Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 935 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
There’s a story told about a musician who came to a city and went to the city’s center square. Once there, he started playing his instrument. It was such a beautiful melody, such a beautiful music. It was so enchanting that the people who gathered around to listen were mesmerized. So much so, that they became enthralled into that music and they started dancing.
Now, a while later, a man who was walking by couldn’t understand what was going on and why these people were dancing in the middle of the city square. He couldn’t fathom in his mind what was going on. You see, the reason was that the man was deaf and therefore, he couldn’t hear.
This is representative of what our life is at times. Even though there is beauty out there, there is goodness and joy and happiness, we can’t hear the music. We become death to life and we can’t hear what the goodness is or how happy we should be. We selectively block ourselves and build a wall around us. Sometimes this wall of protection is also a wall of separation. We keep all the goodness out. In an attempt to make sure that we are secured in our own lives, we block off all the goodness that there is out there.
Why not take away the ear plugs because I know, you and I are not deaf? We have been given the opportunity by G-d to hear and even if a person couldn’t hear, they have the choice to imagine it.
So when you see goodness and joy, and happiness, why not join in? Why not be part of it? And regardless of what is going on in your life today, why not open up and see the beauty in the world? Listen to the birds chirping and see the color of the blue sky which is an infinite blue which cannot be duplicated not its strength or its depth. Why not enjoy the soft kindness that permeates our world on a daily basis? Why not take the time and admire, and appreciate everything that we have? And if you were taken to “that” place and you saw it, enjoy it. Life is an adventure in goodness. The miracle is not to finish, the miracle is having the ability to hear and to know. And when you celebrate it, your face will show it and so will the world around you. Enjoy it.
