The Secrets of Being Organized

In today’s fast paced society, it is critically important to be organized. With so many software programs, hundreds of thousands of applications and every possible gadget available today, what can hardly admit that they lack the proper tools to be organized. But having all the best tools in the world does not guarantee or even promise anyone to have an organized life.

First and foremost, let’s understand the definition of an organized life: it is the ability to divide up all your tasks over a reasonable time with an honest accountability system.

To help you accomplish these tasks, know the following five critical truths about you.

  1. Admit who you are. You are not perfect but you are ready to change and know all the abilities you need are within your reach.
  2. Change takes time. It will demand a certain amount of time until you see real changes in your life. Just accept this fact.
  3. Be thankful for what you have.
  4. Recognize your strengths and maximize your potential in areas you are the most successful at.
  5. Enjoy life. While going through these changes, appreciate your accomplishment and let them be an enticement to do more.

To start becoming organized follow the directives below.

  1. Create a weekly planner.
  2. At the beginning of each week preferably on Sundays spend an hour or so jotting down all the tasks you need to accomplish in the coming week.
  3. Create a daily planner: once the weekly plan has been written down, assign each task to a specific day with a due time and level of importance. Any project that is time sensitive must be labeled with a star and a visible (“Time Sensitive”) along with the final due date.
  4. Any tasks not completed at the end of each day need to be highlighted and moved over to the next day for completion.
  5. At the end of each day review your progress and analyze your situation.

Here comes the most practical part. You must analyze your program with “brutal honesty“. Very soon you will realize where your weaknesses are. To get all your tasks completed is not what is important.

What is important is figuring out what to do to get your tasks continuously completed in a reasonable time.
