Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 36 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
Have you ever wondered why we are given two ears but only one mouth? This is interesting. Perhaps a suggestion to answer why we have two ears and just one mouth is perhaps as a reminder that it behooves us to listen at least “twice as much as we speak.”
When someone comes to you for advice or perhaps would like to get some recognition, or even a friend to speak with; do you listen with the intent of answering the question? What is the purpose for that? Why are you listening? Is there a reason for that?
You don’t listen with the intent to reply; you need to listen with the intent to understand. This way you can help that person. The truth is, no matter how busy a person may be, if they really care they will always find time for another person.
It’s just the truth. It’s a fact.
Now interestingly enough, you can help them be better, feel better. There is no better exercise for the heart than reaching down and helping lifting people up. Making one person smile can change the world. Maybe not the whole world but at least their world— and that is so special. Why not be the reason someone smiles today and every day? Why not be that person that can change the world?
Be the one that when you walk somewhere, everybody feels uplifted, feels better.
I have a sibling who is so kind and always giving. Wherever my brother goes, it seems that everybody laughs, everybody always feels good around him. It’s a gift he’s been given, to lift up people and make them feel greater about themselves than they “think” about themselves. That gift itself is not given to everybody. Certainly, we can work on it and we can make it so that with the abilities that we’ve been given, we can help not only the environments around where we are, but everyone else around us feel better, act better, look better, sound better.
All this can be done. Even though we have two ears and one month; we can listen and we could say the right things all the time.
