Daily Wisdom – Motivational Podcast – Day 219 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond
Everything in this world affects everything else. Wherever you go, whatever you do, whether either by thoughts, speech, or action, you affect the world. Sometimes in a positive way, sometimes in a negative way. Words for instance, which may sound simple, innocuous, and often undefined, could mean something like a deadline. “Will you be finishing this on the deadline or before the deadline?”
The word “deadline” itself comes from the word “dead”. Dead which means an ending, a completion of life.
Instead of a “deadline”, why not use the word a due date? There’s a major difference there. A due date represents a delivery, a time of love, the birth of a child. So instead of saying, “Will you meet this project by the deadline?” Why not say, “Will you be able to have the project ready on the due date?”
There are many things which can be changed.
Instead of saying, “Is that person sick?” Why not say, “Is that person not well?” In saying ‘not well,’ you’re engaging the conversation with a positive word and therefore, the response will already elicit a positive response.
Instead of saying “mean”, say not nice. “Wrong”, say not right. Something which is “ugly”, why not say not pretty? Instead of saying “bad”, why not say not good?
Instead of saying “difficulty”, why not transform that into a challenge? A “hardship” could just be instituted as a test.
All these words can be looked at in many different ways. What is being proposed here, is to use words in the most appropriate positive way so as to engage the conversation, or the person in a positive manner.
So, when you say to them, something was done in a way which was “not right”, you’re already assuming that there is a right way. As opposed to saying, this was “wrong” and it was totally inappropriate; which is so negative. Try using these words. This will help you and everyone around us for a positive life.
