Daily Wisdom  – Motivational Podcast – Day 250 – Inspiration: Above and Beyond

Have you ever been in the situation where things are going quite well for you? The sun is shining, business is good, life seems to be at its ultimate peak. But, then you meet someone with an attitude, and you wonder, “Why does this person have an attitude?”

Let me suggest a way to look at this person. You have to think of that other person, and yourself, as a “work in progress”. None of us are “finished” products. We all have the timeless things that we have to work out in our lives. The things that we have to make better.

Let me relate a story to you that might illustrate it better. A person is walking in the street and meets someone on crutches, leaving a medical specialist’s office. The passer-by, could think that the specialist is actually not good. After all, this person came to the specialist, and was obeying all the doctor’s instructions, yet he still needs crutches. How is that possible? Now, imagine that it was explained to the passer-by that before the patient was in the doctor’s care he couldn’t move his feet altogether. He was completely paralyzed. The doctor actually reduced the paralysis, and he strengthened the patient to the point where he was able to use his feet.

As time went on, things improved and he got so much better, that it is now easier to walk. Even though he still needs crutches, there may be a time if the patient follows the doctor’s advice, that he will get rid of the crutches and be completely healed. Now, when you look at that person – it’s a “work in progress”.

When you see someone with an attitude, know that perhaps that they are being healed from something that they’re coming out of. A challenge, a difficulty, or something that hurt them in one way or another. They are a “works in progress”. They’re trying their best to become better. It’s not always easy and it may take time. Just as in the story, by following the instruction of the specialist, the work in progress will become better, and so will you and the patient.

Let’s look at each other with a kind eye, and give an opportunity to let each other’s work in progress be completed, so we can live a better life. Give the opportunity to everybody, to be the best that they can be.
